Local students representing Magic Curtain Productions in Orlando will be heading to Sugar Land, Texas, to perform musical theater in-person at the inaugural 2021 Junior Theater Festival Texas taking place on June 25th, 26th, and 27th.
Magic Curtain Productions will be one of the 50 groups from 19 states who have agreed to follow strict safety protocols so that they may come together. At the festival, Magic Curtain Productions students will perform selections from Disney’s High School Musical 2 JR. for adjudication.
There will be additional groups worldwide joining the festival virtually. Festival organizers are working with officials representing the city of Sugar Land and also have hired COVID-19 Health and Safety Consultant to create a memorable and safe JTF Texas.
Called a “rousing celebration of theatre” by The New York Times, the Junior Theater Festivals recognize and empower the international global movement of young people and educators creating student-driven musical theater worldwide. In 2019, nearly 15,000 people worldwide attended a Junior Theater Festival or Junior Theater Celebration. Earlier this year, in place of its Flagship Junior Theater Festival Atlanta and the Junior Theater West, iTheatrics produced the 2021 JTF Online Extravaganza (JTFOE). This year marks the first-ever JTF Texas.
