Orlando Solar Bears Play First-Ever Game 7 Tonight

April 26, 2017 Staff

The Orlando Solar Bears will play the first-ever Game 7 in franchise history in the Kelly Cup Playoffs against the Florida Everblades – this will be the 40th Game 7 in the history of the ECHL postseason. So far in this series, the team that has scored first in each game has gone on to victory. The Solar Bears possess an all-time 2-2 record when facing elimination in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The winner of tonight’s game will go on to face the South Carolina Stingrays in the South Division Finals.

Plus, there could be another crazy fight on the ice.

Denver Manderson’s two-point outing on Tuesday night moved him ahead in the team scoring race to eight points (4g-4a) in the postseason, only three points back of Toledo’s Kyle Bonis (6g-5a), who leads all skaters in playoff scoring.

Chris Crane tacked on another two assists for Orlando in Game 6, moving him into a nine-way tie for first place in the league. The playmaker also leads all forwards in the playoffs with a +6.

After leading the Solar Bears and tying for fourth in the league in goals scored during the regular season with 35 goals, Joe Perry was able to redirect a shot from Chris Bradley past Anthony Peters for his first of the postseason late in Game 6.

The Orlando Solar Bears are the proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, and play all of their home games at the Amway Center.
