Edgewater HS Teacher Busted for Sex with Minor

A soccer coach at the Edgewater High School gym was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and charged with several counts, including unlawful sexual activity with a minor, Orlando Police said in a statement.

Agostinho Loiola Mar Rodrigues, 50  years, a certified instructor who was employed as a soccer coach by the Orange County School District, was arrested and charged with several counts–sexual battery and sexual activity with a minor.

According to police, Rodrigues during the period November 25 through December 28, 2009, had inappropriate and unlawful sexual contact with one of his 14-year-old students.  There were three encounters between Rodrigues and the minor, police say, all of which occurred inside the Edgewater High School gym.  The sexual contact with the student took place during the holidays when other students were not in attendance, police said.

Rodrigues was arrested at his residence by the US Marshals Office, the Orlando Police Department statement said.

The defendant has been charged with one count of sexual battery to a minor; unlawful sexual activity with a minor and two counts of lewd and lascivious battery to a minor.

Rodrigues was booked into the Orange County Jail around 4:14 pm, on Tuesday afternoon, following his arrest.  He is being held without bond.
