Orlando Police, Sheriff’s Helicopter Team Catch Grand Theft Suspect

Whether it’s a violent crime or a stolen vehicle, the Orlando Police Department wants the community to know it works every day and night to help protect you and your property.

Recently, Orlando police partnered with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, who used the CHASE Helicopter team to trace the grand theft suspect and make the arrest. Vehicle theft remains a problem in Central Florida.

“Great teamwork between the Orlando Police Department’s TAC Unit and OCSO’s CHASE Helicopter team to quickly trace and arrest a vehicle theft suspect who ignored several commands by uniformed officers to stop,” OPD posted about the incident.

25-year-old Nathaniel Orozco Jr. was arrested and transported to jail on several charges including Grand Theft 3rd Degree Motor Vehicle, according to local law enforcement.

Local crime remains a major problem around Orlando and downtown under Mayor Buddy Dyer. Police remind all residents to remember, “See Something, Say Something” by calling Crimeline or 9-1-1.

You can call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477) where your information will be taken in strictest confidence. Your identity will be protected and you will never have to give your name. You will be given a confidential tip code number. Tips that lead to the felony arrest of suspects and/or the recovery of stolen property and drugs may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000. All tips eligible for a reward are paid to tipsters using an anonymous process. Remember, if you witness a crime in progress, you should call 911.
