Orlando Police Make Bel Air Avenue Homicide Arrest

After an 18-year-old was murdered on October 21st in the middle of the afternoon, the Orlando Police Department announced the arrest of a 17-year-old who is charged with second degree murder.




According to OPD, on October 21, 2023 at approximately 2:55pm, a shooting was reported in the 1000 block of Bel Air Avenue. Local police said the victim, 18-year-old Anguely Rodriguez-Torres, had been struck in the back by gunfire. The victim was transported to the hospital and later succumbed to her injuries.

On October 27th, 2023, 17-year-old Caleb Smith was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Delinquent.

Local crime, guns, and drugs all remain problems around Orlando and downtown under Mayor Buddy Dyer. Police remind all residents to remember, “See Something, Say Something” by calling Crimeline or 9-1-1.
