Orlando Police Make Arrest in Rosemont Shooting

On February 28th at approximately 11pm, Orlando police officers were called in reference to a Rosemont shooting with multiple victims, including a 21-year-old who was pronounced dead on scene.




Upon arrival, officers located seven victims who sustained gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead on scene and six were transported to the hospital.

Orlando Police Homicide Detectives charged Wayne Anthony Grant Junior with Aggravated Battery with a firearm in connection to this shooting. Orlando Police Department Fugitive Investigative Unit was able to locate and arrest Grant without incident.

The deceased has been identified as James Jerry Dawn William III, 21 years of age. The six victims are currently in stable condition and are expected to survive.

According to law enforcement, this incident began with a confrontation between two parties at approximately 3pm earlier that day in the same location. Officers received a call-in reference to an alleged assault with weapons. When officers arrived, it was reported that a disagreement occurred, stemming from a vehicle not being returned by the mutually agreed-upon date.
