Orlando Police: Attempted Cop Killer Arrested

David Davis - suspect

A suspect wanted in Georgia on robbery charges was arrested on Wednesday in Orlando, charged with multiple counts, including attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.

David Davis, 50, was arrested inside the Lynx bus terminal after a struggle with police and not before attempting to grab an officer’s firearm. According to Davis’ Arrest Affidavit, he stated that, “he was either going to kill me (the officer) or he was going to be killed, one of the two.”

Orlando police say, the capture of Davis started at the intersection of Hughey Avenue and west Livingston Street, when cops initiated a traffic stop. The traffic stop was initiated as police learned the 2001 black Honda that Davis was driving, had been used in the commissioning of a violent felony.

The driver of the Honda, later identified as David Davis, refused to stop, instead running two red lights and striking another vehicle at the intersection of Garland Avenue and west Livingston Street.

Davis drove the Honda over a sidewalk and struck a concrete planter inside the Lynx bus terminal, immobilizing the vehicle, police say. He took off running through the terminal, ignoring police commands to stop.

A police officer evenually caught up to Davis and wrestled with him.

According to the Arrest Affidavit report, Davis continued to resist, while trying to release one of the locking mechanisms of the officer’s holster in an attempt to remove it. He also attempted to remove the officer’s radio mic.

With the help of another officer and a Taser, cops were able to subdue Davis and take him into custody.

While Davis was lying on the ground, according the arrest report, he stated that, the officer was lucky that he got help from another cop, as he was going to kill him or he (Davis) was going to be killed, one of the two.

A search of Davis’ vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia and cannabis. Police say, the passenger in Davis’ vehicle had been the subject of an attempted homicide and battery.

Davis was booked into the Orange County Jail on Wednesday evening. He has been charged with multiple counts, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeding and eluding, resisting arrest without violence, battery of a law enforcement officer, hindering communication of a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cocaine.
