An Orlando motorcyclist and a pedestrian were killed in two separate accidents in Brevard County on Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol said.
54-year-old Edward Jones, of Orlando, traveling westbound on State Road 50, failed to negotiate a curve near Hacienda Drive, troopers said.
Jones, who was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control of the 2008 Yamaha motorcycle and was ejected as the motorcycle overturned. He was taken to Parrish Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Jones was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash which occurred just after 4:30 p.m. Troopers said, this crash remains under investigation.
In a separate crash, pedestrian Thomas Armintrout, 64, of Merritt Island, was killed on State Road 520, around 9:15 p.m.
This accident occurred near South Banana River Drive.
Troopers said, Armintrout was crossing the road, but he wasn’t in a crosswalk or at the intersection and walked into the direct path of a 1941 Plymouth.
Don Demoss, 59, of Merritt Island, who was driving the Plymouth was in the right turn lane to go north on North Banana River Drive, when the front of the vehicle struck Armintrout.
Armintrout was pronounced dead on the scene by the medical examiner.
Troopers are awaiting toxicology results to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
Demoss and his passenger, Scott Hammock, 46, were not hurt.
