WHAT: Ice skating in Florida? Thanks to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, that’s right! On Friday, December 11, Mayor Dyer will open Downtown Orlando’s first ice skating rink at Lake Eola Park to celebrate the holidays.
The ice skating rink is just one part of the Winter Wonderland experience at Lake Eola Park this holiday season. Last weekend, Real Radio 104.1 and The Buckethead Show along with hundreds of volunteers decorated Lake Eola Park with thousands of holiday lights.
Thanks to other generous donations, Lake Eola Park is also home to two Christmas trees this year. The 20-foot sand pine was made possible by the Orlando Magic and Santa’s Christmas Tree Forest and the 31-foot blue spruce was made possible by WFTV, Air Tran Airways and Greenery Productions. Both trees were decorated earlier this week.
The ice skating rink – sponsored by Southwest Airlines and Promotions Unlimited Event Management, Inc. – will be open 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
