An Orlando man was arrested, charged with stealing jewelry from an 85 year-old woman, police said.

Luis Alberto Estrada-Cano, 24, of the 5200 block of N. Orange Blossom Trail, was arrested by Winter Haven Police and charged with grand theft and petit theft.

Investigators say, Estrada-Cano was doing flooring work on a home and it is believed that the theft occurred sometime between July 18-22.  The victim reported three rings missing after the flooring work was completed by Redi Carpet Sales, which utilized a subcontractor.

During the investigation, it was discovered that one of the employees of the subcontractor, Estrada-Cano, assigned to work at an apartment complex, 1601 Havendale Boulevard, NW, had pawned three rings at a pawnshop in Orlando on July 20.  Detectives contacted the pawn shop and the rings were still at the shop.

The victim was able to positively identify the rings after photos were shown to her.

Estrada-Cano was arrested after a United States Navy ring was seen on his hand during the interview process. He told investigators that he was never in the Navy, but that he had found the ring.

In addition to grand theft and petit theft, Estrada-Cano will also face an additional charge of false verification to a Pawn Shop owner.
