An Orlando man was arrested on charges in connection with him traveling to Lake County to meet with whom he believed to be a 14-year-old child for sex, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies said on Thursday.
Robert Olson, 37, of Rivecon Avenue, Orlando was arrested in Clermont on Wednesday and booked into the Lake County Jail.
Olson made contact online on January 12th, 2011, with detectives in an undercover capacity and arranged to meet with whom he believed was the uncle of a 14-year-old child for the purposes of having sex with the child. Deputies said that when Olson arrived at a pre-designed location he was taken into custody.
During an interview with detectives, Olson admitted to investigators he brought condoms with him just in case, but stated he did not believe anything would have actually happened. He also admitted to viewing child pornography.
Olson was taken into custody and booked into the Lake County Jail with a $12,000 bond.
