Orlando Man Arrested for Child Neglect after Bar Stop

A father who left his 17-month-old child for about forty-five minutes, unattended in a locked vehicle as he stopped for a couple of beers on south Semoran Blvd., has been arrested.

William Ferrer, arrested for child neglect

Orlando police said that detectives were called to Clicks Billiards at 2524 south Semoran Boulevard, after a passer-by saw and heard a child, unattended, screaming in a locked pick-up truck.

When police arrived, a man who identified himself as William O. Ferrer was just leaving the bar.  Ferrer identified himself as the father of the child and told police that he was in the bar for about five minutes, did not drink and had entered Clicks Billards to greet a friend.

Witnesses Raul Ramos and Kara Berrios, an employee of Clicks Billiards, told police a different story.

Ramos and Berrios indicated that Ferrer had been in the bar for at least 30 minutes.  Both confirmed that Ferrer had drunk one beer and was drinking his second, when he saw police arrive.

Ferrer was taken into custody without incident and charged with child neglect.   He was taken to the Orange County Jail and bond was set at $2,500.
