Orlando Magic Unveil Engelwood Reading, Learning Center

The Orlando Magic unveiled the eighth reading and learning center in the Central Florida area at the Engelwood Neighborhood Center on Monday, June 28, 2010.  The renovation reflects the Magic’s commitment to the advancement of literacy in Orlando, one of the organization’s three charitable focus areas, along with health/wellness and the arts. The major renovations to Engelwood include new floors, lighting fixtures, paint, furniture, a wall wrap, books and table games (pool, ping pong and football).  Turner Construction made significant contributions to the renovations with floors, paint, lighting fixtures and “built-ins.”

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, along with City Commissioner Tony Ortiz and Orlando Magic Chief Operation Officer, Alex Martins cut the ribbon to open the learning center.

Also taking part in today’s ceremony were, Orlando Magic Vice President of Community Relations/Government Affairs, Linda Landman Gonzalez, Engelwood Neighborhood Center Recreation Specialists Randolph Holloman and Alexandra Temes, Englewood Regional Center Manager Taryn Rutkovitz, City of Orlando Families, Parks and Recreation Department Division Manager, Rodney Williams.

STUFF the Magic Mascot, Orlando Magic Dancers and children from the Engelwood Neighborhood Center also took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Orlando Magic Engelwood Reading and Learning Center.
