Orlando International Airport Suffers Limited Impact from Global IT Glitch

As part of the global airline system, Orlando International Airport (MCO) experienced limited impact from the worldwide IT glitch that affected technology systems at several U.S. airlines.

“While MCO’s IT operations are not impacted, we understand the inconvenience this has caused to passengers and are working with our partners to minimize issues at Orlando International Airport,” the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority stated.

The airport said their team was working closely with airline partners to assist customers with passenger movement and convenience in the terminal. Airlines being impacted locally gradually returned to normal operations in Orlando.

As of Friday morning, the limited impact at Orlando International Airport from the global IT glitch included:

• Total delays within, into, or out of the United States today at MCO: 74
• Total cancellations today at Orlando International Airport: 65

The FAA is closely monitoring the situation and is working with the airlines. FAA updates can be accessed online.

Orlando International Airport recommends that passengers:

  • Check with their airlines for the latest flight information
  • Allow extra time for check-in and baggage processing
  • Monitor our airport’s website and social media for updates

The Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike is working with the affected airlines.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority operates Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL), two of Central Florida’s air travel gateways. MCO is a global connector, serving more than 57 million annual passengers across its three terminals, A, B and C. Connected to an Intermodal Terminal Facility that offers high-speed passenger rail service from Brightline, Terminal C is a structure that elevates the customer experience with 100% automated screening lanes at TSA checkpoints.
