On Tuesday, Orlando hosted the biggest International Association of Airport Duty Free Stores (IAADFS) Duty Free Show of the Americas, during which well-known enterprises and retailers were awarded the Duty Free News International (DFNI) Awards for Travel-Retail Excellence in the Americas in 2013.
Dufry Americas won the best travel retailer of the year award for its service to the public in Brazilian airports. Shopping China, which has attended the prestigious event for many years, won the Best Border/Downtown Travel Retailer Award for its 5th consecutive year.
Obtaining the Best Border/Downtown Travel Retailer’s prize was largely due to Shopping China gaining knowledge from attending previous DFNI Awards ceremonies and strengthening its relationship with other participants.
Incorporated in 1933, Shopping China has over 80 years of experience built up throughout the years.  Since beginning operations in the 90´s the company has worked hard to grow, consolidate its position and boost development in the region by investing in the tourist-related quality goods and services. Shopping China began its operations many years ago at the entrance of the city of Pedro Juan Caballero, contributing significantly to the growth and development of the border region. Over 3,500 jobs have been generated in the organisation in the regions of Pedro Juan Caballero and Salto del Guairá, with the location in Paraguay taking the lead in job creation, new projects and other developments.  Shopping China offers more than 150,000 items of imported products that satisfy many tourists and residents in the border regions.
Currently, Shopping China operates two stores in Paraguay (Pedro Juan Caballero and Salto Del Guairá), one in Uruguay and one in Bolivia. The mega stores are constantly growing and expanding every day, thereby leading to its success.
Shopping China is the first company in Paraguay to receive a prize such as the DFNI Americas Awards for Best Border/Downtown Travel Retailer in the Americas, and is very proud of this recognition.
