Orlando Heart Gallery launched, Adopt a Child!

Family Services of Metro Orlando, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering communities to create possibilities for children and families, and its partner agencies recently launched the Heart Gallery of Metro Orlando at Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, located at 6441 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando.  The gallery-style photo exhibit highlights more than 50 children currently available for adoption in central Florida’s foster care system and will remain on display through May 15.

“We’re honored to have the support of Barry University School of Law,” said Greg Kurth, CEO of Family Services of Metro Orlando.  “The institute places value on community service and philanthropic acts that help our communities thrive.  I’m happy to partner with the university to help increase awareness of local children in need and the opportunities available for organizations to get involved.”

Since its inception in 2006, the Heart Gallery of Metro Orlando has been hosted by more than 20 different venues throughout central Florida and has successfully secured adoptive homes for over 20 percent of featured youth.

The Heart Gallery of Metro Orlando is a program of Family Services of Metro Orlando and is made possible through the support of individuals and corporate sponsors.  The exhibit rotates throughout the community in different venues raising awareness of the critical need for more foster and adoptive parents.

“We are thrilled to host the Heart Gallery and help raise awareness of this important issue. At the core of the Barry University School of Law’s mission is a dedication to community service, and educating the community about those in need is the first step in making change happen,” stated Leticia M. Diaz, PhD, JD, dean and professor of Law.  “Through our Children and Families Clinic and Juvenile Justice Center, we hope to improve the lives of Florida’s children in as profound a way as Family Services of Metro Orlando has through their incredible work.”
