Fire Fighters Battle Hunger in Central Florida

With a 152 percent increase in the number of people receiving food assistance between 2006 and 2009, the Orlando Fire Department has teamed up with the Second Harvest Food Bank to fight hunger in Central Florida.

Central Florida citizens may drop-off their non-perishable items to any Orlando Fire House (cityoforlando.net/fire/firehouses) or the City Hall (Rotunda). The food drive runs through November 15, 2010.

Critical items needed are as follows:

  • Meals in a Can
  • Nonfat Dry Milk
  • Oatmeal
  • Canned Meats/Poultry
  • Evaporated Milk
  • Drinks
  • Canned Tuna
  • Nutritional Drinks
  • Dry Beans
  • Canned Veggies
  • Canned Soup
  • Pasta/Macaroni
  • Canned Fruit
  • Diapers
  • Rice
  • Beef Stew
  • Baby Food
