Troopers continue to investigate a crash that left an Orlando driver dead, after the Chevy Impala he was driving plunged from Interstate 4 onto Sand Lake Road.
40-year-old Joanel Fortilien, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene around 10:30 p.m., Monday night.
FHP said, Fortilien was heading eastbound on I-4, in the right lane approaching Sand Lake Road, when he attempted to enter the left travel lane, which was occupied by another vehicle.
Fortilien took evasive action, steered the Chevy to the right to avoid a collission, but over corrected and lost control. He crossed all eastbound travel lanes, entered the right shoulder, struck a guardrail, rotated cockwise and fell from I-4 onto Sand Lake Road.
Troopers said, Fortilien was ejected from the Chevy, which landed on its roof.
Toxicology results are being awaited to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
