An Orlando couple was arrested on Tuesday for their involvement in an organized retail theft scheme to defraud major retail giants operating in Central Florida, law enforcement officers said.

Jesus L. Gil, 45, and Vivian C. Galarraga, 37, are accused of targeting Wal-mart and Target stores in Orange County and placing altered Universal Product Code (UPC) price stickers over legitimate store price stickers, on boxes of sports cards.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) officers said, Gil and Galarraga would then proceed to the check out register and have the items scanned with the lower price stickers. The suspects would pay for the cards, at a cheaper cost than the original price set by the retailers.

Detectives believe that Gil and Galarraga re-sold the items on online auction sites.

Gil and Galarraga were booked into the Brevard County Jail and are being held on $12,000 bond.
