Orlando Cold Case turns into Hot Murder Arrest

A man who is alleged to have murdered a woman over 15 years ago was arrested yesterday, February 2nd in North Carolina, Orlando Police Department (OPD) officials said.

Homicide Detectives from OPD obtained an arrest warrant charging Albert C.Taylor, 55 years, with first degree murder in the death of 30-year-old Angela Gary.  Gary was found murdered in the rear of the Lila Mitchell Center Clinic, located at 5151 Raleigh Street in Orlando on the morning of January 17, 1995.

A review of the case, under the provisions of the Cold Case Grant that OPD received last year, revealed additional DNA evidence that was suitable for new testing methods that were not available at the time of the murder.  These additional tests resulted in Taylor being developed as a suspect last summer and he was interviewed by the detectives at that time.

Detectives returned to North Carolina yesterday, February 2,2010 and with the assistance of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor was taken into custody.

Detectives have declined to release further details on the case at this time.
