Orlando City Council Gives $50,000 in Law Enforcement Trust Funds to Nonprofits

Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council recently approved over $50,000 in Law Enforcement Trust Funds to local nonprofits. The city says the organizations must demonstrate their commitment to crime prevention, neighborhood safety, youth engagement, and other positive ways to improve relations with the community Orlando Police Department serves.

Dueling Dragons of Orlando
Dueling Dragons’ mission is to use the sport of dragon boating to form long-term mentoring relationships between Orlando’s law enforcement officers and inner-city youth. In the process, stereotypes come down, profiles melt away, friendships are formed, and lives change for the better.

Fight For Air Climb – American Lung Association Stairclimbs
Members of the Orlando Police Department participate in American Lung Association’s Fight for Air Climb along with members our community to come together to prevent underage tobacco use and opiod misuse in the City of Orlando. We came in 1st place at last year’s event.

Pace Center for Girls
Pace Center for Girls has created a successful national model for keeping girls out of the juvenile justice system through the development of critical life, health, and academic skills. We are proud to work with PACE, in their continued efforts in providing a positive outlet for young girls in the City of Orlando.

Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America
The Central Florida Council is one of the largest youth serving agencies in Central Florida, instilling timeless values of character, citizenship and leadership in each young man and woman who enters the Scouting program. We have members of our agency who either served in the scouts or now have sons and daughters following their service.
