This year’s National Night Out theme is “Celebrating Safe Communities” and the winners include:
- 1st place – Metrowest Neighborhood
- 2nd place – Park Lake/Highland Neighborhood
- 3rd place – Carver Shores Neighborhood
National Night Out is an annual event that helps build stronger, safer communities by giving crime a going away party. The event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are working together to keep crime out.
Last year, the City of Orlando was ranked first place in the country for our National Night efforts among population centers of 100,000-299,000 including the amount of neighborhood participation and law enforcement involvement. Orlando has placed in the top winning categories for the last 17 years.
