Orlando Bank Robber Arrested

A man who robbed a Bank of America in Orlando two weeks ago and subsequently attempted to rob a Publix supermarket in the vicinity of the bank, was arrested on Monday, Orlando police said.

31-year-old Joshua Newman, police say, robbed the Bank of America on 4725 on south Kirkman Road on February 10.  Newman entered the bank, presented a note to one of the tellers and demanded money.  Newman exited the bank and fled the scene with cash.

Newman, next attempted to rob a Publix supermarket on 4606 south Kirkman Road on February 19.  He handed the cashier a note and advised he had a gun. On this occasion, Newman left without any money from the registers.

Orlando Police Department Robbery Unit arrested Newman on Monday, without incident.  He has been charged with robbery and attempted robbery and is currently in the Orange County Jail.
