Orlando Ballet Completes Trilogy with Battle of the Sexes III

With a successful two-part series under its belt, the Orlando Ballet is ready to thrill audiences yet again with its performance of Battle of the Sexes III. The striking finish to this epic trilogy takes place Feb. 10-12 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center.

With its high energy and sensual choreography, the third installment of the Battle of Sexes series is the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day weekend. Although a battle may not seem to be the most traditionally romantic of settings, this production proves that passion comes from power. Through a mix of classic and contemporary music, the Orlando ballet reenacts a conflict between the sexes that has been ongoing for ages – which is the fairer gender?

Artistic Director Robert Hill keeps the intensity going with an edgy, pop-infused and provocative production that is the culmination of his past shows: Battle of the Sexes and Battle of the Sexes II. Mixing traditional ballet choreography with modern dance, this thrilling conclusion will pull together the series and create a fiery finale.

“Although this is the last part of the series, it is a standalone piece as well,” said Hill. “The themes and emotions expressed in this performance are relatable to all types of audiences. We are ready to thrill audiences yet again and show them things they’ve never seen before.”

With new surprises that continue to distinguish it from the past two performances, this show will feature traditional choreography with an original twist, as well as a wide variety of music such as George Michael’s First Time Ever I Saw Your Face to techno selections by Mirais & Mobbing and Art vs Science. Additionally, Orlando Ballet School’s Arcadian Broad will play a nocturne by Chopin live on stage. Hill will prove, yet again, that this ballet company can keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Tickets range from $15-75. Performances take place on Feb. 10 at 8pm, Feb. 11 at 8pm and February 12 at 2pm. For more information, call 407-426-1739 or visit orlandoballet.org.
