Orlando Airport Reports Growth in August Travel

In August, the number of travelers to the Orlando International Airport (MCO) increased by 2.6 percent over one year ago, the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority said today.  The uptick in traffic in August reflected increases in domestic and international travel.

“While we’re pleased with steady growth and the trends that are moving in a positive direction, we are still conservatively optimistic that the numbers for this fiscal year, ending September 30th, will show an increase in passenger traffic”, says Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

With the addition of Virgin America service to Los Angeles and San Francisco, Orlando International wins the Anna Aero Magazine award for “Airport with the Most New Service”. MCO had the biggest net gain in destinations with service to 14 new markets this year.

See details of August 2010 data below:

  • Year-to-date traffic at MCO is up 1.86 percent over 2009 figures
  • Total number of passengers at MCO in August were 2,991,999
