Law enforcement officers are searching for a man who opened fire on an Orange County deputy, leading to return rounds fired by the deputy, early on Saturday morning.
The exchange of gunfire occurred in the 3000 block on Seabridge Drive just after 4:00 a.m.
Investigators said, a deputy was leaving a service call on Citadel Drive when an unknown man opened fire.
Investigators also said, the man fled the area, but not before the deputy returned fire.
Other deputies and law enforcement agencies, including the Florida Highway Patrol, converged on the scene and a perimeter was set up.
An intense search involving K-9 and Aviation Units failed to unearth the man, who is believed to be white or Hispanic, deputies said.
The Sheriff’s Office said, the unnamed deputy was not injured in the exchange of gunfire with the suspect. It is unknown if the suspect was injured.
The investigation is continuing.
