Orange County encourages residents to be prepared this hurricane season by taking steps to be ready and reduce their risk of damage. Orange County can help residents prepare for the upcoming storm season during the 2015 Hurricane Expo on June 6 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds, 4603 W. Colonial Dr., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The free, one-day event will offer preparedness information. Free preparedness items, including weather radios and first aid kits, will be distributed while supplies last.
Attendees will learn from emergency response and recovery experts from the National Weather Service and the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Representatives will answer questions and provide information on how to survive and deal with floods, high wind damage and property loss.
Participants will also learn how to track storms, pack a disaster kit, perform compression-only CPR and prepare an emergency plan for their pets.
Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30, 2015.
