Orange County Students Recognize Red Ribbon Event

WHAT: Red Ribbon Week student recognition ceremony

WHEN: Tuesday, October 26, 2010 – 10:00 AM

WHERE: Orange County Sheriff’s Office Central Complex – Mel Martinez Auditorium

2500 West Colonial Drive – Orlando

WHO: Fifty youngsters from Orange County middle school are expected to attend the event. Two of those students will be presented with Certificates of Achievement for being finalists in the Red Ribbon Poster/Poem competition

ETC: Red Ribbon Week was created in memory of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. Agent Camarena was brutally murdered during an undercover investigation into a major Mexican drug cartel in 1985. Today Red Ribbon Week is nationally recognized and celebrated helping to preserve Agent Camarena’s memory and his dedication to a drug free America which ultimately cost him his life.

We hope you will take time to share this event with our community and recognize the youngsters who have demonstrated their commitment to Red Ribbon Week with their drug awareness posters and poetry.
