Thousands of students across Orange County will participate in the 2018 Read for the Record campaign. The campaign aims to break the world record for the greatest number of people reading the same book on the same day.
This year’s book is Maybe Something Beautiful by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell and illustrated by Rafael López. Based on a true story of the Urban Art Trail in San Diego, the book reveals how art can inspire transformation, and possibly enlighten students to create something beautiful in their neighborhoods.
The 13th annual campaign highlights the importance of building early literacy and language skills so every child enters kindergarten prepared to succeed.
Jumpstart estimates that adults nationwide will read Maybe Something Beautiful to more than two million children that day.
