Orange County Commissioners recently selected a new Vice Mayor.
As County Commissioners concluded the final meeting of 2024, Commissioner Michael “Mike” Scott was nominated to serve as Vice Mayor to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.
“I’m told this position comes with snacks, so I accepted,” Orange County Commissioner Mike Scott joked. “But, seriously, I’m honored.”
Commissioner Scott will serve in the role for the 2025 calendar year, and Commissioner Nicole Wilson held the position for 2024. The vice mayor sometimes represents the Mayor, Orange County, and the Board at various times.
“I look forward to continuing to serve and represent the residents of District 6 and all of Orange County,” Commissioner Mike Scott added.
The nomination was made by Commissioner Maribel Gomez Cordero, and Commissioner Wilson seconded the nomination. After it was official, Mayor Jerry Demings even joked about the role with Commissioner Scott as he congratulated him and said he looked forward to working more closely with him in the year ahead.
