Orange County School Board: “Fewer students are expected to score “satisfactory”

At today’s School Board Work Session and Rule Development Workshop, school board members discussed continued changes to student achievement level cut scores, statewide assessments, and Florida’s school and district grading system. Additionally, the board heard about proposed revisions to professional staff policies.

Upcoming changes to statewide student assessments in 2015-16

Fewer students are expected to score “satisfactory” or better on Florida Standards Assessments based on a new Florida Board of Education rule.

The state assessment system is still in transition as new assessments will be administered to select students who have (1) certain significant exceptionalities, (2) are English Language Learners or (3) are English Language Learners who take the alternate assessment. Also, assessments in Civics, Biology and U.S. History will now be administered on an updated software platform.
