Orange County Assistant State Attorney Kenneth Lewis who made a series of offensive comments on Facebook has been given new responsibilities, Local 6 reports.
Lewis, who has since apologized, took to Facebook penning several posts, including wishing “Happy Mother’s Day to all the crack hoes out there” and observing that, “It’s never too late to turn it around, tie your tubes, clean up your life and make a difference to someone out there that deserves a better mother.”
Although State Attorney Jeff Ashton said he found prosecutor Lewis’ comments offensive and dehumanizing, he took no action against Lewis.
But today, that changed and the State Attorney’s Office said Lewis would be re-assigned to work on general felonies and not on major crimes. Â Local 6 is also reporting that Lewis will be sent to sensitivity training.
Earlier the Florida Civil Rights Association urged Ashton to fire Lewis for his distasteful Facebook posts, noting that the State Attorney has “an arsenal of court case laws and internal policies at his disposal,” to do so.
