Orange County Leaders Recognize Student’s Artwork

Orange County leaders recently recognized a local elementary school student for his artwork.

The student’s painting was displayed at the Orange County Administration Building in downtown Orlando all last month. Local artists sent more than 200 submissions for consideration for the exhibit.

The Orlando Science Schools student had a major reason to celebrate this Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, as for all of May, the Orange County Administration Building displayed Alexander Wang’s vivid painting of a sun setting behind vast mountains.

Alexander was also recognized by County Commissioner Michael “Mike” Scott, County Commissioner Nicole Wilson and Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.

The Orange County Asian Committee selected the elementary schooler’s artwork, along with 38 other pieces for the exhibition, out of more than 200 contest submissions from local artists.
