Orange County Head Start, a division of the Orange County Family Services Department, will hold Open Registration for parents interested in applying for the 2011-2012 school year. Head Start is a federal program for preschool children, ages 3 to 5, from low-income families, which promotes school readiness by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
To be eligible, a child must be three years of age by September 1, 2011; a resident of Orange County; and the family must meet income guidelines established by the federal government. Parents need to bring the following items to register their child: 1. An original copy of child’s birth certificate; 2. The parent’s photo identification; 3. Proof of residency; 4. Social Security cards for the whole family; 5. Proof of household income from all sources for the past 12 months.
Services are at no cost to those who qualify. For working parents who are not able to complete applications during workdays, Orange County Head Start will conduct recruitments on Saturdays, February 19, 2011 and April 16, 2011 at the following locations below.
