Orange County Hurricane Expo

The 2013 hurricane season begins this weekend and Orange County’s Office of Emergency Management is offering a free community event to educate residents on how to “Keep Calm and Prepare.” The Orange County Hurricane Expo will offer preparedness information, live demonstrations and hands-on training at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. Free preparedness items like weather radios and first aid kits will be distributed while supplies last.

Saturday, June 1, 2013, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Attendees will learn from emergency response and recovery experts from the National Weather Service and local agencies who will answer questions and provide information on how to survive and deal with floods, high wind damage and property loss.

Participants will also learn how to “track” storms, pack a disaster kit, administer first aid, perform compression only CPR and prepare an emergency plan for their pets.

Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30, 2013.
