Orange County Grand Jury Indicted Man for Murder of Two Women

An Orange County grand jury indicted a 25-year-old man for the strangulation murder of two women.




The grand jury formally indicted Carlos Baez Nieves on two counts of First Degree Murder, two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Capital Proceeding and one count of Driving with a Suspended License, according to State Attorney Andrew Bain’s office.

On March 13, 2024, the body of a woman was found near the intersection of Trevarthon Road and Harrell Road in Orange County. An autopsy revealed signs of external neck trauma consistent with strangulation.

Five weeks later, on April 17th, another woman’s body was found at the same location. The second victim also suffered acute trauma to the neck consistent with strangulation.

Following an investigation conducted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Baez Nieves was identified as the primary suspect in both homicides. On April 26, 2024, he was arrested on two counts of First Degree Murder.

On June 26th, the State of Florida presented sufficient evidence to a grand jury to secure indictments against Baez Nieves for two counts of First Degree Murder, two counts of Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Capital Proceeding, and one count of Driving with a Suspended License.
