Orange County Gears Up for Earth Day Celebrations, April 22

On Tuesday, April 19, Mayor Teresa Jacobs and the Board of County Commissioners will proclaim April 22nd, Earth Day in Orange County.

The public is invited to bring their used CFL bulbs, retired cell phones, and natural wine corks, or simply themselves, to the Orange County Earth Day Celebration, Friday, April 22, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the County Administration Center, 201 S. Rosalind Avenue, downtown Orlando.   The cell phones will be donated to domestic violence prevention programs and CFLs and corks will be recycled.  Come join the fun and learn how to start living greener for a Greener Orange County! Admission: FREE!

Exhibits will be staged around the Center’s south lawn to demonstrate how to “Enjoy the Environment, It’s Free,”   highlighting

  • How Orange County is protecting our environment
  • State & Local Parks and Preserves – where you can experience nature
  • How you can be energy efficient, conserve water, reduce waste, & save money!
  • Florida-Friendly Landscaping™
  • Community Gardening and more
