Orange County Fire Rescue (OCFR) will take over ambulance services for Health Central Hospital due to its impending sale to Orlando Health.
These arrangements will commence August 28, 2011.
“I expect this transition to be seamless,” said Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs in a statement. “People in unincorporated west Orange County will receive the highest level of service from our well-trained, highly experienced rescue personnel.”
OCFR has provided 1st responder emergency medical services (EMS) and ambulance transport for the rest of unincorporated Orange County for many years. With this additional responsibility, OCFR will now handle ambulance services for all of unincorporated Orange County.
OCFR currently provides emergency dispatch services for Health Central, along with the Winter Garden and Ocoee Fire Departments. It will cover the new territory by reallocating existing EMS resources and adding three daytime units.
