Orange County Deputy Arrested for Drunk Driving

A 6-year veteran of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested and charged with driving drunk in the pre-dawn hours on Monday.

Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over Orange County County Sheriff’s Deputy Sheriff Richard Perez around  1:30 a.m. on the Oscoela Parkway and Florida Parkway.

Perez, who was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle, was then arrested and charged with DUI.

Deputy Sheriff Perez was immediately relieved of duty and his law enforcement credentials retained. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail.

A statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said, once out of jail, DS Perez is expected to report to his supervisor where he will be reassigned, pending the outcome of the Agency’s internal review.

Deputy Sheriff Perez was assigned to the Agency’s Patrol Division Sector IV-Day Shift.

The Professional Standards Section has initiated an investigation, the statement from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
