On Tuesday, February 23, 2010, the Orange County Sexual Offender Surveillance Squad conducted an undercover operation in which they posed as an underage child surfing on the internet. The defendant began to make contact with the alleged child in a chat room. During the on line conversation, the defendant sent the alleged child pictures of himself as well as his exposed penis. The defendant also solicited the alleged child to engage him in sexual acts.
Earlier today, Wednesday, February 24, 2010, the defendant told his wife that he was traveling to Melbourne, Florida for a job interview.  The defendant then traveled to a location in Central Florida where he rented a motel room where the alleged child was supposed to meet him for sex. The defendant was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Offender Surveillance Squad at the motel for Soliciting a Minor via the Internet for Sex, and Transmitting Harmful Material to a Minor.
The defendant, Gildardo Floridian, 44-years-old, is currently being interviewed at the OCSO Central Operations location at this time and will be transported to the Orange County Jail shortly.
