The Orange County Democratic Party is promoting a voter guide for upcoming local elections.
Of course, local Democrats are supporting Vice President Kamala Harris over Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell for U.S. Senate over Republican Rick Scott. But the local Democratic voter guide also shows the recommended choices for other candidates, charter amendments and constitutional amendments.
Here are the Orange County Democratic political recommendations for these important Central Florida and Orlando 2024 races:

YES ON QUESTION 1
A “yes” vote makes it easier for citizen-led initiatives to get on the ballot.
YES ON QUESTION 2
A “yes” vote requires the continued existence of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
YES ON QUESTION 3
A “yes” vote Specifies that write-in candidates do not count towards the number of candidates on the ballot for purposes of requiring a primary election
YES ON QUESTION 4
A “yes” vote requires Orange County to utilize a fiscal sustainability tool to evaluate new rural and suburban development.
YES ON QUESTION 5
A “yes” vote establishes the Charter Office of County Attorney, Ensures that the County Attorney has sufficient independence from the Mayor and can advise the entire county government

A “yes” vote increases the number of county commission districts from 6 to 8.

A “yes” vote makes it more difficult to develop past the county’s rural boundary.

A “yes” vote gives the county power over municipal annexations of county lands.
School Sales Surtax Referendum:
YES ON THE HALF-PENNY SCHOOLS TAX QUESTION
A “yes” vote keeps the half-penny tax that funds the building of new schools. This is NOT a new tax.
Florida Constitutional Amendments:
NO ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 1
A “no” vote opposes making school board elections partisan, thereby maintaining current procedures for electing school board members in a nonpartisan election.
NO ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 2
A “no” vote opposes establishing a constitutional right to hunt and fish in Florida.
YES ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 3
A “yes” vote supports legalizing marijuana for adults 21 years old and older and allowing individuals to possess up to three ounces of marijuana.
YES ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 4
A “yes” vote supports limiting government interference in women’s reproductive life, legalizing abortions to the point of viability, or when necessary to protect the patient’s health.
NO ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 5
A “no” vote opposes an annual inflation adjustment to the amount of assessed value that is exempt from property taxation, which will reduce needed local government funding.
NO ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 6
A “no” vote opposes repealing the constitutional provision that allows for the public financing of campaigns.
