Orange County, Orlando Citizens Urged to Turn In Unwanted Guns

Citizens of Orange County will have three locations where they could turn in their unwanted guns tomorrow, Thursday, August 22, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with no questions asked.

Now into its 15th year, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Crimeline and Real Radio, to host the Kicks 4 Guns event. Participants will receive a $50.00 Wal-Mart Gift Card for turning in a real firearm. There are no questions asked and no ID required.

Gun collection will take place at three locations:

  • Central Florida Fairgrounds located at 4603 West Colonial Drive
  • John Bridges Center located at 445 West 13th Street, Apopka
  • Carl Black Chevy located at 11500 East Colonial Drive 

Citizens who want to turn in firearms are asked to place the unloaded weapon inside a plastic bag. An OCSO deputy will remove the gun from the vehicle.

Last year, Kicks 4 Guns took in 1,333 guns; 36 were illegal. Orange County took in 66 guns; 4 were illegal.

The Orlando Police Department location for the Kick 4 Guns event is at the Dr. J.R. Smith Center, 1723 Bruton Blvd, Orlando, FL 32805.
