The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office conducted “Operation Stuffed,” a Tampa Bay area multiple-agency initiative to combat driving under the influence, making nearly 300 traffic stops and more than 40 DUI arrests from Wednesday, November 22, 2023, to Sunday, November 26, 2023.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released the Operation Stuffed results:
“Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate with family and loved ones. Concerns about road safety should not detract from the festivities,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “This is why the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has dedicated a specialized DUI unit to combat the issue of impaired driving.”
HCSO deputies partnered with the Tampa Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol to help ensure a safe holiday weekend for Central Florida drivers across the county. Deputies patrolled the roads, targeting both drug and alcohol-impaired drivers.
“I express my gratitude to our exceptional deputies and collaborative partner agencies for their commitment to ensuring road safety during this holiday weekend. Many of them selflessly sacrificed time with their families to help ensure the safety of our community,” said Sheriff Chronister. “Although this holiday weekend has ended, the holiday season is just beginning. As you enjoy the celebrations of the season, I want to remind everyone to never drive under the influence. Please do your part in keeping our community safe. Let’s all have a great holiday season.”
In an ongoing effort to protect the community and focus on Ybor City, Tampa Police also released stats from the continued increased patrol and officer presence, including recovered guns, felony arrests, DUI arrests and nearly 200 traffic stops.
