Operation Candy Cane Launched By OCSO

What: OCSO deputies will be placing notifications on vehicles. An OCSO Crime Prevention deputy will be available for interviews.

Additional Information:

With the holiday shopping season in full swing, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention deputies and volunteers are launching Operation Candy Cane; a public awareness campaign aimed at thwarting auto burglaries at popular retail center parking lots.

From now until January 7th, deputies will be alerting citizens whose vehicles are at risk for a burglary by placing an informational survey on their vehicle. A short note will outline their vulnerabilities and let citizens know how their car is considered a target for criminals.

Deputies will be patrolling parking lots at Florida Mall, Waterford Lakes Town Center and Orlando Premium Outlets. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention trailer will alternate between the 3 locations.

Operation Candy Cane is all part of Sheriff Jerry L. Demings 4th annual Operation Safe Holidays aimed at reducing crime and keeping Orange County citizens safe.
