The state is on a mission to recruit 1,200 “new generation” foster families in 12 months in an attempt to be more selective in finding foster parents willing to love a child as their own. One area non-profit it trying to help them meet that goal.
Open Hearts Family Services, a program operated by the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home is holding a series of question and answer sessions to help the state recruit foster parents. The next session will be held Sunday February 17th in Winter Garden at 3:00 p.m.
A panel of foster care experts will be on hand to answer any questions people may have about becoming a foster parent. As a foster parent, you will experience the joy of parenting, even if it is temporary. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing you have made a positive difference in the life of a child.
