OPD Officer Shoots Fleeing Man in Drug Bust

A man was shot by an Orlando Police Department (OPD) officer in a drug buy bust operation in the area of Parramore Avenue and South street on Friday night.

OPD Drug Enforcement Unit was conducting a buy bust operation when according to police, 27-year-old Ronnery Fell, of Orlando, ran from police.

Again, according to police, when Fell was encountered he made some type of movement which the officer perceived to be a threat and the OPD officer opened fire.

Fell was transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He has been charged with the sale of and dealing in cannabis and resisting an officer without violence.

The OPD officer who shot Fell was not injured during the encounter.  His name has not been released.

The OPD officer will be placed on administrative leave, with pay.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is conducting an investigation into the OPD officer shooting.
