George Zimmerman, the man who was acquitted for the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teen, was arrested Friday night on a charge of domestic violence with a weapon and aggravated assault, according to rawstory.com.
Zimmerman was in custody at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Seminole County, after he was arrested around 10:00 pm on Friday night in Lake Mary.
In November 2013, Zimmerman was arrested after he pointed a gun at a girlfriend’s face and shattered a glass table. The charges were later dropped after the woman changed her mind about testifying against him.
Since being acquitted of Martin’s murder Zimmerman has had several brushes with law enforcement and remained in the spotlight.
