Orange County deputies say, the suspicious package found near several area schools in the vicinity of Crystal Glen Boulevard and Rollman Road was of a malicious intent and meant to elicit a law enforcement response.
The package which turned out to be stuffed animal – a rocking horse, with a black item strapped to it, was found around 8:30 a.m., on Monday morning. The suspicious package led to several schools being placed on lockdown.
Authorities say, just after 11:00 a.m., investigators approached the package and conducted a controlled blast on the suspected black box attacked to the stuffed animal. The items contained were subsequently rendered safe and the OCSO EOD Unit was able to recover the remnants to continue with its criminal investigation.
Deputies say, this is the second call to the area with a suspicious package near a school.
The public’s help is being sought for information on who might have placed the item on Crystal Glen. Anyone with such information should contact Crimeline or the Sheriff’s Office.
