OCSO Partners with O.C.S.O. To Put Kids on Right Track

WHAT: Sheriff Demings invites you to join him in keeping with his goal of suppressing and preventing juvenile crime by helping him kick off the Orange County Sheriff’s Office new mentorship program in partnership with Powerful Education Technologies to produce Offering Children Successful Outcomes (O.C.S.O.).

WHERE: Orange County Sheriff’s Office Central Operations Complex – 2500 West Colonial Drive

ETC: The goal of Offering Children Successful Outcomes is to reduce disproportionate minority contact within the juvenile justice system within the Orange County high risk zip code areas by developing community based prevention and intervention programs. The program focuses on school based prevention, intervention and diversion efforts as well as individual growth and development programs for targeted youth. The participants of the program will be students from Evans H.S., Wekiva H.S., Meadowbrook M.S., and Robinswood M.S.

Approximately 10 sworn and civilian personnel will manage the program which involves four components – mentoring sessions, character education sessions, in-school seminars, and monthly parenting workshops as well. The O.C.S.O. program is funded by a $30,000 grant from the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Saturday’s session – “You’ve Got the Power” will focus on breaking the vicious cycles of teen drug use, teen violence, teenage pregnancy and more.
