OCPS Superintendent Gets Southern Minority Leadership Award

The Southern Minority Leadership Council selected Superintendent Ronald Blocker for a 2009 Leadership Award. The announcement and presentation came during the Council’s Annual Awards Luncheon in June.

The Southern Minority Leadership Council selected Mr. Blocker for leading Orange County Public Schools to increased Advanced Placement enrollment and participation, narrowing the achievement gap in minority populations and developing a comprehensive academic plan for the district.

As superintendent, Mr. Blocker’s vision is for Orange County Public Schools “To be the top producer of successful students in the nation.” He has set ambitious goals to support his vision, which include pursuing high academic standards, maintaining a high-performing and dedicated work force and involving the community on   important issues.
